Stewardship As A Spiritual Discipline Study Document

The Center for Faith and Giving is pleased to share the official Stewardship Study Document of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) – GA 1732, received at the Indianapolis General Assembly on July 12, 2017. We invite you to engage this document as a tool for deepening the conversation of stewardship in your congregation and exploring its implications for your shared life of faith.

This study document is intended to move beyond reading and into practice.

We encourage congregations to:

  • Read and reflect on the document together
  • Facilitate group discussions on stewardship and discipleship
  • Explore how its themes shape your ministry, mission, and financial practices

Stewardship is not simply about resources—it is about forming disciples of Jesus who understand their lives as gifts from God.

We believe this document is most meaningful when it is actively used in the life of the congregation. You may find it to be a useful precursor to our Overflowing Stewardship Curriculum.

A great opportunity may be to use this document to:

  • Organize a post-Easter Bible study or small group series
  • Incorporate the material into seasonal faith formation or stewardship emphasis
  • Invite leaders and members into deeper reflection on generosity and discipleship

Our prayers are with you as you explore this resource and discern how it might shape your congregation’s life together. May this study deepen your understanding of stewardship and strengthen your shared commitment to faithful discipleship!
